When a pro has a tap-in putt; he will mark the ball, pick it up then put it back down. Is there any practical reason for this?

Part of the routine. On other putts the routine will involve reading then lining the putt up. Bobbing down to mark it gives a chance for a brief read for a short putt, the gets the routine started all over again.

I think also if they have an alignment line on the ball, they will re-align it with the hole.Comment
