Re: Most Embarrissing Things on a Golf Course

Playing on the old course moaning about the slow "americans" with 4 caddys 4 ladies walking with them and 3 photographers, we were getting more and more frustrated as the group in front of them started dissappearing into the distance. Started to "put some pressure on them" ie. drove up behind as soon as the last guy had started walking. After having them turn round and look at us twice they let us through on 14. Got to the tee and had them all watching when we realised they werent all american - one of them was Seve playing with some businessmen. PMy partner proceeded to slice his drive OB right! Poor guy got some stick from me afterwards!

Re: Most Embarrissing Things on a Golf Course

Well my most embarrasing thing was hitting my driver shot that ended up hitting the lady captin from the golf club I was playing in her leg. It was a complete accident as I just bought my new driver and my average distance with it was about 230 - 245 yrds. On this day I must of caught it right on the sweet spot and it flew over 300 yrds bounced then hit her. I didn't half feel like sH*T and when I went to say I was very sorry she was completely fine with me and said accidents do happen please just be careful not to do it again.

I was playing a par 3 (167 yards), which at 180 yards, backs up to one of the major red light crossing here in Baton Rouge. Well, tee the ball...made the best swing of my life...shot the ball 185 yards...which was prefect shot for the roof of a brand new 2004 BMW. Yes!!

          and not to short myself.

At the 1st tee at the Louisiana High School State Champ. Tee the ball. Took a big and swung with everything I had. Nailed the ball.....with my SHAFT of my club!! Ball went 50 yards, the head of my driver went 75 yards when snapped off my shaft....sigh..

Par 3, 179 yards, playing against the courses pro and my brother(scratch golfer). We all chucked down some money for closest to the pin. Both my brother and the pro miss the green by at least 15 yards. That's embarrassing. I dropped my ball within a foot of the pin. On the walk up to the green I'm talking trash about how I beat them with a cheap set of Walmart clubs(I've upgraded since then) while their bags were full of the top of the line clubs. They chipped on and one putted for par. I stepped up to my 1 foot par and proceeded to put the ball 2 feet past the hole. I still saved par but 2 years later I still get teased a little about missing a straight 1 foot birdie putt.

Re: Most Embarrissing Things on a Golf Course

The first year I played, I was out playing in a best ball tournament that my brother convinced me to play in. Play ahead of us was slow, as it is in most tournaments so every tee we had to wait a few minutes to tee off. The group behind us also had to do the same, that is, except for this one guy who teed off at a few holes before we were out of range and he wouldn't even yell "fore". We yelled a couple of times for him to be careful but he did it again. This time my brother was setting up take his second shot when this guys ball bounces right between his feet. Although you could tell he was miffed, he calmly picked up the ball, took a tee out of his pocket and proceeded to hit the best drive he'd ever hit right back at the tee box, causing the whole group behind us to go diving everywhere to get out of the way. They never hit another drive anywhere close to us for the rest of the round, but after the round was over, the guy came around to the bar where we were having a few cold ones and tried to find out just who hit that ball at him. He never found out, but the embarrassing part was that all of us almost lost our memberships at the course. The guy just happened to be the owner of the golf club.

Re: Most Embarrissing Things on a Golf Course

Played a round with my dad once at a course in Chorley.

On the Seventh hole I hit a cracking second with a five Iron, it went well over the back of the green and bushes well out of bounds. The course was only a nine hole course. When we had finished and set of in the car we noticed a car parked at the side of the road with a smashed side window, the road runs directly behind the 7 hole.

I didn't go to see if I could have my ball back, he was biger than me

Playing a 120 yd par 3 which had a water hazard on the right hand side and saying to my playing partner that the water hazard was a complete waste of time as nobody could possibly play their shot into it : then played my shot right into it.

Flying down a grassy hill in the golf cart at top speed, cranking a hard left turn an rolling the golf cart onto it's side. Hey -- they tip back over pretty easily. Had to return it driving in reverse so the cart guy would not see the flat tire.

                      Hows this?

Teeing off on the 8th tee with a bunch of friends when I notice the captain only a few yards to my left on the 2nd green. Wanting to get a good one away in front of him I try to absolutely smash the ball. Result? I top that scuttles along the ground hits the ladies tee marker flies off left across the green causing the captain and his group to hastily duck to avoid being hit! Then worst of all after much apologising I go over to play my ball which is now quite a way back and about 30 yards to the left of the tee box when I see the club pro coming up the fairway! My friends almost died laughing!

Re: Most Embarrissing Things on a Golf Course

I was playing my local course with my friend, who is also a member, and his brother who was about 12 at the time. His brother had the worst swing i had ever seen because he could hardly keep control of the club. It looked like he was going to fall over everytime he hit it. Well we got through 4 holes and then on the 5th after a decent drive and a topped second shot, he had a chance to go for the green.
He stood up to the ball, moved back, took a practise swing, stepped up to the ball and hit it. Hes managed to hit his brother in the knee who is standing almost next to him on his left. My mate jumped up to dodge the ball but it hit him on the knee and he fell on his bag.
Anyway the next hole was a par 5, so my friend pulled out his driver only to find out that the shaft had been bent when he fell on his bag. I couldn't stop laughing but his brother got cained for it.

Re: Most Embarrissing Things on a Golf Course

On a golf trip in spain, I was playing a long par four finishing hole with the club house veranda overlooking the green. I hit a fair drive but was still a good distnce from the green. I pulled the three wood hoping I might make the edge of the green, about 200yds. I creamed the shot whereby the ball hit a concrete path and bounced on to the veranda smashing the beerglass of a puzzled lady onlooker. I did not go to retrieve the ball!!

I was playing the Legends course in Florida. It runs through a housing co-op. On one hole, (an uphill par 5) there's houses both left and right. Of course, I push one out to the right **BANG** into the metal part of a screen door. Needless to say, I declared it lost and played another.

I once saw a guy urinating in a novelty golf club that screwed open revealing a cavity intended for that purpose. I mean I guess when you have to go, you have to go lol.
