    Re: Tiger Woods

First post here, and I'm gonna jump into the deep end!

I will say that I have gone on record as saying that if I really got to know Tiger - as in sit down with a few beers and shoot the breeze type of knowing him - I may change my opinion. That said, count me as one of those golfers that appreciate his talent but do not like him. He rubbed me the wrong way from day one. IMHO he doesn't show any respect for the game.... just the drive (lust?) to be recognized as the best to ever play it professionally..... Like others have said... he embraced the endorsements, the public adoration, and then he comes across as arrogant, aloof, and superior. He always managed that image....

Sorry, Golf is a game of integrity and his actions may have shown that he just might not have too much of it.

As for John Daly, I like him a whole lot better. From day one he has never pretended to be better than those that came out to watch him. He has his demons and they are well documented. He has owned them and will battle them for the rest of his life. Mr Woods went into damage control immediately - and yes, I realize that he has\had millions of dollars at stake in endorsements and assets - especially if his wife files for divorce. Once everything came to light I think that everyone would have embraced him if he just stepped up to the podium and said, "I f'ed up."... Show some SINCERE humility and just be a person, be Eldrick..... not "Tiger!". I pretty much saw all I needed to see in his demeanor during and after two majors that he played this year...

I too lost my father, as have many others on here. 13 years later there is not a day that goes by that I don't still feel the loss... I especially feel it every time my kids hug me and tell me that they love me. I look at my kids and know that someday they will feel this hollowness. It is a sad fact of life that many will have to live through.... life goes on.... The saddest part in all of this is that his transgressions will effect his relationship with them. If he starts winning again the Tiger lovers will be back on the band wagon and the Tiger haters will still be where they are, but Ellin and the kids..... that will never be the same. For that I do feel for him - at least a little bit.
