    Well al, i was looking into making my own but i just dont know how, i have looked at the stuff on golfsmith the head,shaft and grip i want but before i order i want to wat else i to get I.E tools,etc so can you just say stuff i ned for making the putter? Thanks Steve

      Steve - use the search feature on this site - search for 'building clubs'. It tells you everything you need to know.

      Also, check out http://www.dynacraftgolf.com for components.

      Also, if you look at dynacraft or golfsmith websites they have instructions on how to build a club. Golfworks.com is also another great resource.

          I just gave a quick list for putter building in your Building a Putter thread.

          How you can tell the difference between clones and components is generally simple. Clones look like the OEM club. For example, Synchron is a clone name.

          I've got Synchron Medic hybrids - clones of Nike CPR's. I've hit them against actual CPR's - and the CPR's totally outperform the clones on every level - feel, distance, and accuracy.

            Putters are really easy to build, especially if the shaft is not offset. All you'll need is something to cut the shaft to length (I use a Dremel, but a regular copper pipe cutter works just fine), some sand paper to rough up the end that goes into the putter head and some two-part epoxy. Putting on the grip is the only part that's a bit tricky and it's also pretty easy to do.

            For the grip: get a roll of water soluable grip tape. Wrap it on the shaft end, wet it then slide the grip on and line it up with the head. That's it.

            So here's what you need;
            Putter head
            Putter Shaft
            Sand paper
            two part epoxy
            Grip tape
            Steel cutting tool
            Putter grip

                You'll do just fine, just make sure you let the glue (mix the two parts well) set for a few hours and try not to play with it until the glue is dry; I just couldn't wait to play with the first one I made. Just watch; after you do your first putter before long you'll be building all kinds of stuff like me.

                I'm now looking at building one of those 22 degree Snake Eyes Quick Strike rescue clubs. Sweeeeet

                    If I spend $900 on a putter that baby better putt for me.

                    I guess I shouldn't talk, I've been looking at a Bettinardi Baby Bee for a while now and they go for about $900. It will be a while before I get to that point though, but it's nice to look.

                        I have had several putters in my collection in the golf career. I have had a few collectibles but most are for play. I currently play with a Cameron Red X. I have a Cameron Brad Faxon Limited also in the rotation. I suppose I am willing to spend around $300.00 USD for something I use in play. Collectibles are another story but I have stopped this practice, as my financial portfolio cannot support this habit.
