  • discussion for all.

    Hi Folks
After the inevitable struggles that we all go through when learning golf. What was the breakthrough you made that finally made things click .
what are you still struggling with and what have you tried to correct it.
I think this will a great informative thread for beginners and lower h/capped players.

I struggled for years with my take away until i finally managed to book a lesson with a pro and he sorted it within minutes.
I still struggle with the chipping yips but i have strengthened my approach game to compensate...

    Cheers

    hi aft
dave pelz's book, his putting bible. i was always pretty bad at putting till i read that and started to think more about putting to 6/12 inches past the hole and not worry as much about the line, pace is more important for me as i now know i'll sink most second putts now.

      Hi Bill
Thanks for getting the ball rolling.
We have discussed peltz's putting solutions before and i know you have had nothing but possitive results from them
I too recommend peltz's putting bible, a must for any serious golfers book shelf along with his short game bible.

      cheers Bill

Dear Aftford: with practice and a general amount of cussing and things somedays, balance and rhythmn work our games out. As far as chipping, you may want to angle your body slightly open of target, move weight a little forward, move the ball a little back in the stancea nd proceed to take a smaller backswing , but accelerate through the ball , keeping the wrists firm and the clubface facing the target...also practice with all types of clubs for all situations...hope it works...have a great day....rich

          Greg's Right Hand Drill

Worked wonders for me. It was not so much the drill itself but what was behind or the intention the drill that made me realize what my wrists should be doing as I swung the club. I now have a very clear picture of what my wrists should "look" like throughout my swing.

All [good] drills (and even some swing aids) are trying to tell you something, but they speak very quietly.

          Good thread. Thanks Aftford.

PS - I am a firm believer that drills are like crutches - required for a little bit but you would rather not have to use them.

best thing i did was to buy a couple of 3woods they are long and accurate.
they work well as putters and as tv aerials also!

I have an ongoing difficulty with mental attitude to my iron striking. I dont even think about the driver. I have tried to adress this in so many ways, I cant begin to count. How would you adress this Aft.? I try to stay in a routine. I know its confidence but it is difficult to get it back
