  • Cost of Greens' Fees in Scotland in November?

    Hi Folks,

I am considering taking a week's vacation in Scotland with my wife sometime this November. My guess is that the courses will not be so busy at that time and that the greens' fees will be somewhat lower than during the peak season. My wife doesn't play golf, but I would like to play a few rounds at some of the better known courses, so my plan would be to just show up as a single and see if I can get out onto the course that way. Does anybody have any idea of what sort of money we are talking about here? I have tried to find out myself online, but I just keep running across all-inclusive full-time golf outing packages, which is not what I am looking for. If anyone has any good info on this, I would appreciate it if you would share it with me. Thanks.

    hi
some prices for golf in east lothian
    muirfield £135 -- £170
    gullane no 1 £85 -- £100
    north berwick £60 -- £75
    dunbar £45 -- £80
    longniddry £35.50 -£48
    musselburgh £35 -- £50
musselburgh the oldest course in the world. £9 -- £10 for 9 holes
just some from near me. you can get a package from east lothian golf for the week on a few diffrent courses, look up "east lothian golf" there is also a thing called the east lothian pass that cost £7.50 and would give you 30% off 12 courses in east lothian.
    hope this helps a little.

        hi rharris
it does get cold and feels really cold with the wind of the north sea but its gets lot worse mid-december to end of feb, oct-nov it often not bad and last few years been mild about +4 to +10 ish. you would get on at St Andrews but have to phone up first and starter will tell you what to do. normaly there a ballat the day before for places and starter will add you into a group but you have to be there on day and have to wait, £ 59 in nov and you tee off mats.

Hi R Harris . Years ago I caddied for my uncle on Royal Musselburgh when he was playing for the Seal Trophy. This is played on the first weekend after New Years Eve. Sometimes very cold and sometimes not so cold. But as its the new year it generally ended up as a competition to see who could get round , what with all the drinks on the tees !!!!!!!!!. Bill Reed will konw the competition well.

            hi jocky
yes its a great day and you never think about the cold, not a day to take your car thats for sure with a nip at each hole lol
its like a big party and you look forward to seeing people you only see once or twice a year and the score dont matter like jocky said its about just getting round. lol

jocky did you ever try playing with the hickery clubs you hire down at the old course in musselburgh, even have old balls the your lucky to get over 150 yard with new drivers. they have a new year day comp where the guys dress in 1800 tweeds and play with real old clubs it much the same as up at the royal with lots of drink to keep you warm inside. i did see your uncle up on the board in the royal few weeks ago, he won a few things too i was told.
