Let me correct that new addition into the mix......
It's a Nippon 950. Similar characteristics to what you descirbed too. A little pricey but I'll bite on a single stick to see what's what here...

I don't think you'll like the feel of the PX 6.0 then - butt stiffness is roughly the same between it and the S300, with a stiffer mid and stiffer tip. I assumed that by weird you meant you could really feel it (versus not feel it at all à la the telephone pole).

In that case it sounds like you're looking for a much softer overall profile.

I agree that there's no substituting hitting off turf as the ultimate test - but we've got a few fitting tools available to us to help narrow down the choices.

You may want to try a KBS Tour in R - I've found them to be remarkably smooth.

I haven't had too much experience with the Nippon's to be honest, but like the Apollo Hump, they seem to be a love or hate line of shafts.

        LP 43:

        Good Morning:
I wasn't ignoring your shaft suggestions either. Had never heard of the KBS so did a little research. C'mon how could you dismiss terms like "Oil Quench" tempering? Called the local guru (Josh Muscleman) who is generally not available for phone chats, explained my dilema/tale of woe and the first suggestion out of his mouth was your KBS Tour 90(R) He found a spot for me at 3:00 p.m. and quickly made short order of the weighing of each component part showing me how much weight was coming outta the stick. Head wt. on that MP 57-7 iron was 269 gms. (Swing wt. on the beast was an E-5) Little heavy maybe? When all was said and done and regripped (+1/2) we ended up at a D-3 and a club that feels pretty nice in-hand. No doubt going from 120 gms. to 95 gms in shaft wt. contributed greatly. I'll take her out this afternoon after the rain stops and see how she unloads. So far so good and thanks a bunch for your input.... Much appreciated.
