There is a definate flipping for me, really hard to explain, Liam thinks I'm mad.

As I come into the ball trying to hold the face open, i.e attack from the inside there is a point when I loose control and flip my hands/wrists into the ball, like a last minute release I assume, this is a downward blow and I just have to let it go..........................got to be right the ball goes miles with a slight draw.

They always say if it feels different it's right.

I can't believe that I have been this long without any swing thoughts at all, this is the longest period in my 10 years golfing career, I couldn't tell you what my hips, arms, head, feet or anypart of my body is doing during the swing

I am waiting for the right time to video my swing just to see if it is looking loads better or I have driffted into bad habits....................I think you should wait around three months before having a look on video.

    Ian.
    Hi Ian,

If I think about it I am leading into the ball by the bottom edge of my back hand as though making a chopping action, this holds the clubface open. As I hit through the ball my wrists then roll over. That's the only way I can describe it.

Other than that, like you, a lack of swing thoughts beyond keeping the clubface on course as it approaches the ball.

      Hi Guys,

well after reading a lot on here about the book I ordered it.
Due to the Post in Germany the book got lost on the way but Greg got another off and I got it yesterday. Thanks a million Greg.

I have only just started reading the book so I can not say I know much about the 3sk, but, if I remember correctly does the book not say in the introduction that you may have to find out whether your grip should either stronger or weaker, a bit of trail and error, to see if you are slicing or Hooking.

      Cheers Ian

Edit: I needed to edit this because my excitement was pure towards the fact that the book came on time and I had something to read. I don't think I will be focusing on the book's methods just yet - for some reason thinking about "hitting" is bothering me. I'm on a tear with Shawn Clement's method and I would hate to ruin my pure ball striking for more yards.

3Skills is the first thing I'm going to as soon as things go sour and will see what I can do in the offseason to implement into Clement's methods.

one of Trevino's tips is to grip light and when you swing back and reach your full back swing give the grip a hard squeeze with only the left hand and your grip relaxes on the downswing by its self, it does work.

Thanks Bill, I found this one really helpful. Down the range yesterday and tried it. I felt very relaxed with it. I did not get a complete cure but feel it is something to work on.

I would suggest reading the book a few times to let it sink in then decide what you will do.

I've read the book a couple of time now and it all sound so simple and I find it great how its presented and explained.
I have got myself an old piece of carpet and pushed a rubber tee through a hole in it and have been trying the 1sk using bites of paper in the living room. Works realy well.

I'll be at the range on Friday and in a comp Sunday so I will be giving it all a try.

Has anyone lowered their handicap more than 3 strokes using this method?

OK you guys, I've got to find out what it's all about, if it has helped a low handicapper like Ian it MUST have something (I am off 14) - I have ordered the book, and will report back soon!!

PS - I got some .AVI's of my (slightly over the top swing I think) the other night - I will post these before 3 skills, AND after reading the book (and hopefully fixing) to compare soon.

What's the best way to do this BTW? - they are approx 5MB each - or I can post them converted to .WMV's which are much smaller (but not as good quality)

I don't think you will be disappointed, I am also a low handicapper and although the message is simple it has done wonders for my ball striking.

You will probably need to post the vids to something like UTube and then enter the link here.

Does one of the three skills focus on the angle of club head attack to the ball, and give drills.

                      Cheers

Yes it does. This is Skill 1, it is about getting you to make contact with the sweetspot of every club through the correct angle of attack. It has very clear and easy to follow drills to achieve this.

i think that is one of the most important things in golf and hardly ever covered in golf books, getting the club head on the ball close to the sweet spot time after time.

Absolutely Bill and it is the clarity of that skill alone which has moved my ball striking and game up a level.

I have had more lessons than I can remember and read hoards of books and articles, this is the first time I have really understood how to make proper contact with the ball. Instructors don't seem to teach it, books make suggestions like "Hit down" but do not in general clarify exactly what that means or exactly why.
