i disagree with that, i think the grip should be as loose as posible. maybe loose is not the word, firm is good, but you can still be firm and tension free. your hand are like a hinge, as soon as your hands get tension in them, it is like swinging a rusty hinge. wouldn't you much rather have a greased up hinge to release the club faster?
I know that a tension free swing has been mentioned before, but i had a 1st hand experience of a tension swing killer today. my grips are getting old and it was humid, but my grip was so slick i had to hold it with death grip.
my 5i started out going 180 and dead strait when my grip was good, but then the sweat and and humididty and it got slick and was going 40yds left or right and only 150 yds. my 3w went from 260 down to 180.
