Re: Stolen Clubs - Insurance claim.

    Good luck Daviesec!!!

Mark, are you sure it was your friend that had the clubs knocked off - hmmmmm

Haven't had anyone knock my golf gear but have my gear is insured. They are listed on the insurance policy. The company asked for an appraisal and I got one from the pro. So when they - God forbid, are knocked off I'm assuming they'll be replaced without any questions. I'll do the crime report myself

Ok, that's the technical statement out of the way.

Unsure about Insurance practices over in the UK Dave, but here in Oz, most Householders Policies come with a "New for Old" clause written in , so, that being the case, with proof of ownership checking out, you should get new equipment to replace your old, regardless of the relative value and what you paid for it originally.

All that matters is that you had it and can prove it.

If your policy doesn't have a "new for old" clause, then all your Insurer will do is attempt to quantify the value of what was lost then pay you equitably for it in whatever method is most convenient for you. After all, you are their Customer and they will (or at least "should") do all they can to make this experience as distasteful as possible...

Check your wording. Some times it pays to read the fine print ahead of time...

      Cheers
Yes my Policy definitely states "new for old" so I should be ok. Just posted the claim off this afternoon, wonder how long it'll be before they reach a decision.

Cha ching. They should pay out straight away as soon as all paper work is filed. So expect a decision in week. Also mate hire clubs for your game and claim for that, as if you have golf insurance this will be covered as well.

Laughing my socks off now VP I know I come from near by Liverpool, but this time it was honestly a mate. I am dead jealous of him as he has got the new CBG taylor made irons, shame he can't hit them though

Yes Mark my insurance does cover me for club hire but I can't find anywhere that does it. I rang about 10 clubs on monday to enquire but none of them could offer me anything.

              Davie,

Any chance of just getting the set now and fixing the pro up when you get the cheque?

Re: Stolen Clubs - Insurance claim.

Chances are, the Insurer will give an authority to one of their preferred suppliers to fit you and then pay them directly at invoice, less any applicable policy excess.

Seems to me that the most time in this will be in the getting fitted and the club maker building your set.

                Good luck with it...

                Cheers

I already asked but the pro wasn't too keen as he said I need to make sure my insurance company will pay up.

Yes I think it'll be a while before I have my clubs in my hand.

Being that both my wife, and I are retired, we travel pretty much year around. We are the ultimate "snow birds" in our old age. Everything we own is insured to the max. A suggestion our agent gave us specifically for our golf clubs was to get rid of the manufacturer's logo head covers, and go with non logo generics. The idea being that a thief will steal a set with well known logo head covers before picking up a set with generic, no name head covers. Even my bag looks like it should be in a second hand store some where. GJS

Re: Stolen Clubs - Insurance claim.

Just a letter this morning from Insurance company thanking me for my claim and informing me that i'll hear within the next 14 days if my claim has been successful. Then no doubt i'll have to wait another 2 weeks for the money to come through. Total farce.

Re: Stolen Clubs - Insurance claim.

Over here, "they" are required by law to acknowledge receipt of each and every claim. Ask yourself, would you prefer not having received the letter and not knowing they had your claim in hand....

"They" also have standard performance timeframes in which each and every claim "must" be at the minimum reviewed within. These timeframes are "worse case" type and just because "they" say 14 days, straight forward claims would pass through "their" processes far more quickly...

You are more than likely feeling the standard set of emotions at having your property stolen, ranging from simple anger to violation of privacy.

At this time, your Insurer will do all within its power to settle your claim as quickly and fairly as it can within the legally binding framework of the Policy you purchased from them.

My suggestion, FWIW, is take "the glass half full view" and be thankful you had the cover in place. The position you find yourself in could be worse simply by you not having made the decision to purchase the insurance policy in the first place.

                            Sorry for ranting...
