Re: Hopeless with irons
I have found it a big mistake to just arrive at the course and go right to the first tee. If you are warming up on the first few holes your obviously losing strokes. It always seemed to take me 3-4-6 holes to feel loose and confident. So I started arriving early and practicing for 45 minutes or so. A bit of chipping and putting then a wedge or two, a long iron, a hybrid and a driver on the range. Warmed up, loose, confident= ready to tee off.

I kept smacking my pitching iron far to far for the first couple of holes, even with a shorter swing and chocking down on the club. I'll need to practice that now
