The extra effort is often worth it with the short sticks... how did it go?

The details of that Final Match...
His opening tee shot with driver was unlucky to miss the f/way right, with a bad bounce taking his ball only just into the first cut of rough. I took 3W to take the dam behind the 10th green out of play, good thing too, as I blocked my tee shot right finishing just short of the dam, but with a shot...

2009 Handicappers Trophy - The Final
Well, I am very happy to say that I won my match play final last Saturday 3&2, and, was only 2 over the card thru 16 holes at the conclusion of the match.
Struck the ball well all day and can say that I only hit 2 or 3 shots during the round that I wasn't happy with.

Over the last 4 weeks, my Club has been competing for our Handicappers Trophy, a knock out match play event. To make the main draw, we play a qualifying stroke round, with the 1st 15 players joining the defending champion in the 16 man seeded draw. I was last man in, following a count back, having been...

2009...????
Already...???

Agree Brian, hitting the ball well tee to green(ish) at the moment and know with a little more application and attention to my short game & putting, my scores will drop significantly.
Thanks to...

Good round mate. Maybe a few more 3 woods from the tee and a bit of work on the pitches and chips would get you into singles

Saturday, Feb 21st, 2008 - Stroke
Driver from the 1st tee started centre and faded to finish about 70m away in the light RH rough. Punched a half knock down 7I which pitched on the green hopped twice and sat pin high, 8 feet from the pin. Pushed the birdie putt right and tapped in for a par 4 to open the day. Mixed feelings there....

My last few rounds......
Last weekend saw me venture out twice with positive results.....
Saturday was the 1st round of the 1st of my Club's 2 Match Play tournaments for the year. I was drawn to play a fellow 12 marker who I had beaten in last years event, however, he had to give me 3 holes that time. No such...

Saturday 31st January, 2008: Stableford
Stinking bloody hot day and me with a bit of a sore back, so I probably shouldn't have gone round, but, I did...
29 stableford points was not my best work by some way. Missed all but 4 fairways and I made the only birdie putt I gave myself.
But, as always, out of the bad...

Ah that's where my short game has gone; instead of hibernating it went down under for Winter and hasn't returned.
C'mon Craig, give me short game back please.

Australia Day Weekend: 2 Rounds.
Well after a night at the tennis circus during the week, (NB: Andy M is good, but he's not THAT good...
) I was looking forward to a couple of rounds over the long weekend here that bears our Country's name.
Saturday's round was a 4BBB Par round and I was paired with a fellow off 14...

Saturday 17th January 2008: Stroke
Today's round was played in fine & warm conditions. The course continues to improve following some recent works and I was keen to get out there after last weeks front 9.
Didn't have a particularly good ball striking day and would go on to sign for an 84 (43/41) off the stick (net even...

Saturday, January 10th, 2009: Stableford
Saturday's round was played in fine & warm conditions, at least the elements would not be providing the excuses for a poor round today...
Opened my round with a rifle straight tee shot that split the first fairway and my 52° wedge 2nd found the putting surface about 25feet away. 2...

Saturday 13th December, 2008: Stableford
Last week's round was played in attrocious conditions. Windy, wet and cold almost had me thinking I was on centre court at Wimbledon in mid July....
We had 40 players start the day and only 7 finish. Clearly my club mates are not made of stern stuff. Either that or none of them have...
