Re: i used the 3 skills and nailed it!
I appreciate what you are saying Brian. I retired about 18 months ago. I have been really looking forward to it so I could play more golf. I was using the 3 skills at the time and was looking to improving my game. Unfortunately it has gone down hill from there. Like I have said, I have tried REALLY hard. I have frequented the range and even got myself a pro. I think that might have helped to be the last straw he has totally confused me.

Re: i used the 3 skills and nailed it!
Miffin,
I am coming up 61, took early retirement last year and am playing the best golf of my life. I am a great proponent of 3 skills and now that I play around 3 games in the week, my game is improving all the time.
For what it may be worth I think your problem is in your attitude, you seem to be very negative regarding your abilities and seem to be bent on giving in to what is probably a small swing issue. Sorry if this is not what you want to hear but you need to be more positive and have a mindset that you can do better and will. I respectfully suggest 3 skills is not your problem.

how about this then, playing our par4 8th this morning i crunched a drive 278 yds leaving me an easy 125yd wedge shot what followed was ridiculous chunked my wedge into a water hazard, took a drop, chunked that, overshot the green, chipped on and sunk the putt for an 8
wrecked my card and felt like walking in but then parred 9, 10, 11 and 12
youre next great round is not that far away

take a break then start from scratch the way you used to play
go back to the fundamentals and relearn them
at 67 years young you have many years of golf left in you
FWIW before i started with 3 skills i tried other methods that simply didnt work for me so i know how you feel, but since working with 3 skills my game has come on immensly
good luck with whatever you do

Re: i used the 3 skills and nailed it!
Hello everyone.
I've just joined today in order to join in this thread.
I've been playing for nearly 10 years now and am a very frustrated high-handicapper who has never broken 95 and usually shoots between 95 and 110. I only tend to play 8-10 times a year but go to the range an awful lot and have wasted fortunes on training aids. I'm 35 years old.
Sometimes i'm very good on the driving range and my pro reckons i have a good swing. He claims it's the swing of a low handicapper(!) and is surprised i score so badly. He's a big, blunt Aussie and assures me if i had a sh1t swing he'd happily tell me!
But for me, a new drill or swing key that works one day brilliantly on the range - and i think i've cracked it - fails in spectacular style the next. It's always the way for me.
I've just purchased Joe Hagan's book on amazon and await delivery.
I bought it because the times i've actually threatened to get good have been from following similar philosophies, namely those of AJ Bonar and Jim Flick. They focus on the clubhead release rather than the big-muscles swing, and, i've hit my very best shots using their methods, but without the consistancy. [Flick's 'Left foot, Right Toe' drill sometimes produces great reults for me, but sadly not for long]. But at least having hit these shots, i know this sort of method and philosophy can work for me. So i'm hoping Hagan's ideas will prove the missing link.
Yesterday at the range i had sucess using the following swing key (adapted from Bonar): 'Drive the nail through and turn it over'. ('It' being the clubhead). I play next week and hopefully it'll work, but as i've said, it would be typical for me if it didn't. I wasn't thinking of the nail being at any angle (that hasn't worked for me before), but just thinking of driving through before turning the clubhead over worked, i think, by preventing me from 'flipping', something i've struggled with before.
Anyway, i'll let you know how it goes.

Re: i used the 3 skills and nailed it!
I´ve been reading this forum. I have little reference about what the 3 dynamic skill for impact are.
Does they have something in common with those from the book "The Impact Zone" (by Clampett)? This book is also focused in the quality of impact as the most important thing in the swing.

Re: i used the 3 skills and nailed it!
Hi Kevin,
Hope you are keeping well mate, congrats on your achievements, got the right putter then....lol
3SKs still working wonders for me too, I do have to keep going back to the book though, it's funny when you have a practice swing how you can start working on something without thinking.......
Only being working on Hogans waggle for a while, good for 3SKs.
See you at the GTO day.
Ian.
