Hope your back better mate................just a note really, I have played consistantly now for weeks and weeks now without any problem or swing thoughts.
I feel much better about my game now than ever before, just as the season ended really so last two comps I struggled, hit it fantastic best ever just to long with a few irons cost me shots.
Yeah I was not one for the driving range, I used to get fed up or bored and start tinkering. Now I go there and hit 40% of 50 balls almost were i want (still sorting out distance in flight) and enjoy it. Only thing I really need to sort is my grip i am hoking long irons (think i need to bring my right hand over the top a bit more to stop it rotating too much) but hey the point is the range is now fun.
Cheers Keith
Greetings, I am sure you will benefit from the book and more so the simple approach, to hitting the ball and wondering what else happens.
To add to the thread, I had a funny feeling on the way home from the dreaded driving range last night, as our winter draws in. I was on my way home and realized I had just hit 100 balls without any swing thoughts, reminds me of the time about 20 years ago when I realized I had gone a whole day without a cigarette and how proud I felt.
There have been times when I have gone to the range hit the ball great then started to work on something and just ruined my ball striking.
368 replies! I figured there must be something worth reading in there. Took me two and a half hours to read the entire thread - English is not my native language - accidently spoiling my perfectly planned "prison break" tv night btw.
My hcp has been pretty steady at around 7.5 for over a year now but I'm not progressing anymore after many years in which I took 2 to 3 strokes of per year. I figure whith my hcp I must have more or less engrained (some or all off) the 3skills in my game somewhere, but I like the idea of a simplistic approach and getting rid of two million swing thoughts during my game (!!). I do understand it is not a book primairily covering the mental aspects of the game. Being a golf reading junky I've got a library full of Rotella and his friends anyway which haven't worked for me (yet).
I ordered the book and just wanted to share my considerations. If this thread is not dead by the time I have read, understood and practised the 3sks principles thoroughly, I will report my findings objectively.
Yes it does. This is Skill 1, it is about getting you to make contact with the sweetspot of every club through the correct angle of attack. It has very clear and easy to follow drills to achieve this.
hi Brian
i think that is one of the most important things in golf and hardly ever covered in golf books, getting the club head on the ball close to the sweet spot time after time.
bill
Absolutely Bill and it is the clarity of that skill alone which has moved my ball striking and game up a level.
I have had more lessons than I can remember and read hoards of books and articles, this is the first time I have really understood how to make proper contact with the ball. Instructors don't seem to teach it, books make suggestions like "Hit down" but do not in general clarify exactly what that means or exactly why.

Does one of the three skills focus on the angle of club head attack to the ball, and give drills.
Cheers

OK you guys, I've got to find out what it's all about, if it has helped a low handicapper like Ian it MUST have something (I am off 14) - I have ordered the book, and will report back soon!!
PS - I got some .AVI's of my (slightly over the top swing I think) the other night - I will post these before 3 skills, AND after reading the book (and hopefully fixing) to compare soon.
What's the best way to do this BTW? - they are approx 5MB each - or I can post them converted to .WMV's which are much smaller (but not as good quality)
I don't think you will be disappointed, I am also a low handicapper and although the message is simple it has done wonders for my ball striking.
You will probably need to post the vids to something like UTube and then enter the link here.
